C4D: Creating A Pokéball Scene

In the past few weeks I came across some very good tutorials about creating objects with Cinema 4D (an engine to create 3D models). I'm really a fan of 3D modelling, so I thought I'd give it a try and extent my knowledge by using some of the advices and by creating the objects that were given. The first tutorial was about CREATING A POKÉBALL SCENE.

Things that were completely off my radar definitely won me over during the entire process (like extrude inner, bevel and stuff) and helped me to understand the working progess. Things I already knew helped me to understand the connection between the never before used techniques and I started to really love this software. Not that I wasn't in love with it in the beginning, but as my knowledge was very rookie-ish, I often came to the point where I really didn't know how to move on correctly. Well, things have changed now.

If you're interested just go on Youtube and look for IDigitalUniverse, he has some amazing advices that are really easy to learn and he explains everything multiple times.

For now, I'd like to present several works that I created before and after using this very helpful tutorial.

1. First attempt before using the tutorial: boring scene & lightning

2. First attempt using the advices of the tutorial:
RGB Pokeballs - better shapes, interesting scene & lightning

3. Lightning of the created scene

4. Adding more realistic lights and a realistic angle to the modified shapes

5. Creating an entirely new, futuristic ball with more shapes
and different colours
6. Different angle of the new object

7. View from behind & up front

8. Final outcome: Placing the still cornered ball into an illuminated scene

Added some hypernurbs to make it look more realistic

What I want to do better next time:  Adding more polygons to the object to make it even more round, work on render settings to improve the look and make it look less pixelated .
What I'm satisfied with for the moment: lightning scene, reflections, rust and colours

Thoughts?
